    Description

You are bidding on an Authentic Models Company MERCATOR 1541 GLOBE, but apparently a slightly older model than the ones being sold now as the design of wood base differs. It stands 24" tall on its 8¼"-diameter x 9"-high wood base. The mount is solid brass that's been bronzed. The sturdy globe can be removed from the semicircular mount by unscrewing the North Pole screw and sliding the globe gently to one side. The weight is just shy of 5 pounds.
You will recognize many places in Mercator's world, although few of the fanciful animals that populate it survived the 16th–18th-century explorers and colonizers. There are thousands of legends showing settlements, countries, bodies of water, islands—so interesting to poke around to compare what they then knew and what you know now.
In order to make the shipping charges as reasonable as possible, we plan to ship FedEx Home Delivery and might take the globe off its stand to pack it in a much smaller box. Assembly is really simple.
