Description
VINTAGE SCISSORS EXTENSION GARMENT HANGERThese garment scissor extensions was designed and patented by Thomas H. Hood in 1929 and was called the "HOOD". This product was originally made for the hotel industry so that guests could extend out the device up to 24 inches to hang up clothing. When retracted, the unit was only 7 inches long. This particular unit is stamped as "Patent Pending" so possibly made before the patent was granted. Maybe a prototype model? The manufacturing company was the Extended Garment and Hanger Co., Inc and they were located in Dallas, TX. and this would extend 24 inches. It folds back to 7 inches. It is heavy weighing in at 2 pounds and 14 ounces. These items are rare and you don't see them much and this one looks to have never been mounted as there are no scratches or scarring around the swivel mounting plate holes.
