The part glossy and part matte brass pedestal stand lifts the globe to reach 47 inches total. The cylindrical brass semi-meridian elegantly frames the centerpiece of his model: the refined grace of the world globe itself. This glass globe was hand-blown by Columbus' craftspeople. After that the crystalline sphere was coated with a hand-cut and applied map. The Bamberg features Columbus' DUO technology meaning that it displays two maps. The first political map is shown when the globe is not lit by the interior light bulb. When the floor globe is illuminated a physical map dramatically showcasing Earth's relief is highlighted in all of its glory.
