Du Berry Vintage Pottery Bell Crock Butter Keeper Hand Made in France

This lovely vintage brown butter bell or butter crock is made by Poterie Du Berry
in France. It measures 4" high and 4" diameter at the base, or 4 1/2" at the rim of the lid. It holds about a half stick of butter inside the cylinder part. To use, keep about 1/4 inch of water in the base. The butter will stay fresh and you can keep it at room temperature. This is a beautiful piece of crockery that has a traditional French design in a warm brown glaze. It doesn't looked used (the bottom is pristine) but there's a chip on the underside of the lid knob (see pic). Doesn't affect function and it's mostly hidden by the shape of the knob.
