IMPERIAL GLASS CO. # 134 RUBY RED 9 INCH "OLIVE" PATTERN PEDESTAL BASE CENTERPIECE BOWL IN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT CONDITION
. It has no scratches anywhere, which is absolutely amazing because its manufacturing began in the 1930s, making it over 80 years old. This glass bowl comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed pattern of 3 rows of parallel rows of shaped ovals. Imperial also made a similar pattern during the same time and color called 'Old English" pattern # 166, but the ovals are perpendicular to each other. Paden City also made a similar pattern actually called "Popeye And Olive" Pattern # 994, but it has 2 rows of alternating olive "bumps" all raised on the bottom and none are indented as the Imperil ones are. Believe me, it is really absolutely gorgeous. It is so beautiful that it look as if it were made yesterday. I only wish I had more because it is so beautiful. It measures 9 inches across the top, and stands about 3 3/4 inches tall, and sits on a 3 7/8 inch round diameter pedestal base. It was purchased from a very old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, it is in absolutely perfect condition, as can be seen in the photographs. I found it sitting inside a closed dining room cabinet on the top shelf where it seemed to have sat there for many years and was never used, because there are absolutely no scratches anywhere on the bottom, where scratches would normally be expected to be found. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the bowl. It comes from a smoke-free home.
