The stand made by Replogle is based off of a Frank Lloyd Wright drawing of an unidentified concept for a Prairie Home he worked on in the early 1900's. The only words identifying the drawing said "Something like this " scrawled in Wright's handwriting on the paper. The 16 inch globe is held 39 inches high by the remarkable base. Made of walnut-finish hardwood the pedestal style stand supports a square horizontal cradle that holds the globe. The sphere itself is gimbal-mounted to the frame by a full die-cast meridian which features latitudinal calibrations. Thus the globe can easily be swiveled up or down for close investigation.
The political map features an antique style ocean. The parchment-colored waters are accented by the pale earth tones of the landmasses.
