Description
Here's a cute little piece of vintage elegant glassware which was made by the Fostoria Glass Company of Moundsville, West Virginia. The blank for this is shown in the old Fostoria catalogs as theNo. 2378 Whip Cream Pail. With N.P. Handle
(I presume the 'N.P.' means 'nickel plated'). The etched decoration is Fostoria's 'Versailles Design' (Fostoria's Plate Etching No. 278), which was introduced in 1928 and discontinued in 1944. The color is pink, or what Fostoria called 'Rose'; the color was also introduced in 1928 and discontinued in 1944.
The piece is about 4-3/4" across the top (about 5-3/8" wide at the little handle nubs), and sits about 2-1/2" high at the edge. With the handle extended, it's about 5-1/4" tall, and the ground base is about 3-5/8" in diameter. It's in nice shape, with no nicks, chips, flakes or fleabites; maybe a couple of light scuffs and scratches here and there from age, but nothing you're going to see or notice unless you're holding it up to a light. Beautiful piece of vintage Fostoria, cute little blank, wonderful color, great etch, I've got way too much glassware in my life (and can't seem to stop buying more), so this needs a new home.
