    Description

The LAMP OF KNOWLEDGE PIN is the RARER Larger Older one. These older ones are hard to come by. From what I have learned there are 3 of these kinds of pins. This larger one is from 1926-1949, the next smaller one with an open handle but different hallmark is 1950 on, and the newest ones have a closed handle on them. The Edith Macy Center was opened in 1926 to train Girl Scout Leaders and is in Briarcliff Manor in NY-45 minutes from Manhattan. It is 405 wooded acres on a mountainside in the heart of Westchester County. It was built so attendees would enjoy peace and quiet in a serene and relaxed environment. These pins were given out to trainees and camp instructors-they could not be purchased. This pin is 1 5/8” and has a stamping on the back-Minero-NewCome & Co Inc, NYC. The back is in perfect working order and is not bent. The newer pin is to celebrate 75 years of the Center-1926 to 2001. Nice to have both of these in your collection. Please see the pictures for condition and Measurements.
